3) The violin

Henry left school last June and his friend Max asked him what he wanted to do because he did not like work. Henry replied that he would study at the Music Conservatory. Henry went to the conservatory, but did not study much. He played games, danced and enjoyed life, but never had much money. Then holidays came and he went home to visit Max. His friend curiously asked him: "How are you, Henry?" "Very well," was the answer, "but my father is not very nice, I wrote to ask him for five hundred euros for a new violin, but he did not send me the money, he sent me a violin."

2) Brighton

Last summer Mr and Mrs Miller went to Brighton on vacation. Brighton is a seaside city in England. Mr Miller likes fishing, and on the first day he asked his wife whether she would go to sea with him to do some fishing. His wife did not feel like it because it was cold and windy that day, so Mr Miller went alone in a boat and fished for several hours. But he did not catch anything except a piece of paper in a bottle and on it the name of a fish shop in town. He went back to the hotel and gave it to his wife. "How did you catch that?" she asked him. "A diver, hung it on my hook," replied Mr Miller.

3) A new phone number

Mr Miller had a new phone number. Before he got it, it was the number of a shop. The store by then had a new number, but many women did not know that, so they continued to call the old one. At first, Mr and Mrs Miller always said, "Sorry, you chose the wrong number, the shop has a new one now." But women continued to call them to order something, so that after a certain time Mr and Mrs Miller began to answer in that way, "Good morning, madam, what shall we send you today?" The couple thought they might stop calling the women if those did not get their things. But that did not help Mr and Mrs Miller, because the women started to call them even more, and furiously lamented, "Where are my things? I have not received my things yet! Why haven’t you sent my things yet?"
