Lesson 182

3) Like a child Mr and Mrs Smith lived in a small house near London with their child. Sometimes Mr Smith came very late from work when his wife and child had already fallen asleep, and then, he opened the door of his house with his keys and went in very quietly. However, one night, when he came home late, he had to ring the bell because he could not find his keys. But his wife did not hear him. He rang again. But even then she did not hear him. Mr Smith knocked on the bedroom window, he spoke to his wife, he called loudly, but she did not wake up. Then he thought for a few seconds and spoke like a small child. "Mother," he said, "I want to go to the toilet!" He spoke very quietly, and suddenly Mrs Smith woke up. Then he spoke to her, and she opened the door for him.
