4) The stars below
John was a calm, serious
young man. He had studied a lot for a year and when he passed his exams, his
friend Bill went to congratulate him and then had a serious conversation with
him. "You have never been to a dance, John," he said, "it is
boring to just study and never have fun. Go out with me tonight!"
"Perhaps you are right, Bill," John replied after some hesitation.
So they went to a dance to have a pleasant time. However, John drank more
than he was used to and at midnight Bill worried about him. So he said,"
Now we are going home in the cool air." On their way home they came to a
bridge and John looked down attentively at the river. The stars were
reflected in its smooth surface." What kind of lights are those down
there?" John asked. "These are the stars, John," answered
Bill. "The stars?" said John: "Well! How did I get up
here?"
