Lesson one hundred and six

---------------------------------------------------

The beauty and the ugly man! It was winter and very cold. It snowed. An old woman went through the forest. She was hungry. She saw a castle. It was very big and beautiful. She knocked at the door and a prince opened the door. He asked her: “What do you want?” She answered: „It’s cold and I’m hungry.“ The prince was bad and said: „There is no bread for you. Go away!” She cried and went into the forest. A fairy stood in front of the prince and said: “You’re bad. I’m transforming you into an ugly man.” The prince looked into a mirror and saw an ugly man. A beautiful woman sat under a tree and read a book. A man came and asked her: “What are you doing?” She answered: “I’m reading a book.” He looked into the book but there weren’t pictures. He couldn’t read and didn’t like her book. He threw it into the river. The woman cried and ran away into the forest. In the forest she saw a castle and knocked at the door. The prince opened the door. But he was ugly and frightened her. But she asked: “Can I come in? You must help me!” The prince answered: “Oh, yes! Come in!” She saw the library and loved it and kissed him. He changed back into a handsome prince and they married.
