Lesson 202

1) The cat Mrs Miller had a young cat, and it was the first winter for the cat. One night the cat was outside when it began to snow heavily. Mrs Miller looked for the small animal everywhere and called its name, but did not find it, so she called the police and asked whether anyone had found a small black cat. The policeman at the other end of the line gave a negative answer, saying that cats were really strong animals, sometimes living in the snow for days, and when it melted or someone found them, they were quite healthy. Mrs Miller was a bit calmed when she heard that. So she said that her cat was very smart and almost spoke like a human being. By this time the policeman became rather impatient and asked why she didn’t finish the conversation because the cat might just try to call her.
