3) Two old men

Two old men are friends. Having a day off last Thursday they went for a walk. But it being cold and wet on the streets, after fifteen minutes they went to a big shop where cheap second hand goods were sold. Each of the old men said to himself that the other one went in to buy something. But both were in the shop because it was warm and dry. Staying for another quarter of an hour they looked at many things, and each of them thought by himself, "He doesn’t want anything, he's like me." Then one of them said, "We won’t buy anything here, will we? Let's go and look at some nice things in the expensive stores."

2) Twins

Ann and Julia are twins, and ten years old. Loving beautiful clothes they always want the same. Last week, their mother said she would buy them new clothes that day. The girls were very happy. Having taken her children to a shop she asked them what colour they wanted that time. "Blue," they both answered together, and everyone laughed. A shop assistant brought them some nice blue dresses and the twins put them on. She told them there was a mirror on the wall. Their mother laughing again said, "They don’t need a mirror, they always look at each other."

1) For a week

Tom Miller being twenty years old visited the manager of a bank because he wanted to work there. The manager asked him where and how long he had recently worked. Tom replied that he had spent a year and a half in an office in London. The manager calling the company in London spoke to the local manager. "Yes, Tom Miller was with us for a year and a half, but only worked for a week during that time."

My hair is longer every day.

If I don’t cut it, I let it grow / I grow my hair.

a moustache and a beard

I shave my beard off.

I don’t like it anymore.
= I like it no more.
= I no longer like it / I like it no longer.

3) Breakfast with another man

Mr Smith travelling abroad for a few months grew a moustache and a beard there. Then having come back to England, he went on vacation with his wife in a hotel by the sea. After the first day, his wife told him she did not like his beard. He shaved it off, but not his moustache. The following morning telling himself that he no longer liked his moustache, he also shaved it off. Then he and his wife went to breakfast, and all the people at the other tables looking at them started whispering, "Every morning, this woman comes to breakfast with another man!"

2) Driving very fast!

Mr Smith had a twelve-year-old son named Tom. Mr Smith driving to work every day on the way brought his son to school. Tom wanted a bicycle very much because many of his friends rode to school on their bicycles. Once, Mr Smith stopping his car at a red light said to Tom, "I'll buy you a bike next month, Tom, but first I'll ask you some questions. Well, do you know the meaning of this traffic light?" "Yes," Tom answered immediately. "Red is 'stop', green is 'go', and yellow is 'go very fast'!"

Many people are together in a hall and they dance.

If I have a lot of money, I keep it in a bank.
Many people do this and each person has an account in the bank

The pupil’s homework is good and the teacher praises the pupil.
The servant flatters the king.

1) The great ball

Mrs Smith told her husband that a great ball would take place a great ball in the town hall that Saturday, all the other women would wear new dresses and for that reason she wanted a new one too. But her husband replied that he wouldn’t buy her a new dress. Then she went to a store, buying a nice dress she had it written on her husband's account, but did not tell him about it. She wore the dress on the dance, and everyone praised it. At midnight, Mr and Mrs Smith going home, he wanted to flatter his wife: "You were as beautiful in your old dress as all the other women in their new one."
