2) A very big baby
Lucy and Helen were good
friends. They were in the same class at school and often visited each other
at home on weekends. When they were both eight years old, Lucy's mother gave
birth to a baby. Lucy was overjoyed to have a little sister and always talked
to Helen about it, who had no brothers or sisters. At first, Helen was very
interested in the new baby, but after a while, she found it boring. She was
also a little jealous. When the two girls were playing in the schoolyard one
morning, Lucy enthusiastically said to her friend: "You know, Helen? My
little sister has gained almost two hundred grams this week."
"That's not a lot," Helen replied. "I know a baby that is gaining
five kilograms a day." "Oh, that can't be true," Lucy replied
contemptuously. "Whose baby is it?" "An elephant’s," said
Helen.
