He will not let me go home
Mr
and Mrs Miller had four children. One evening Mrs Miller going out, Mr Miller
stayed at home with the children. They were upstairs in their bedrooms.
Reading his newspaper for half an hour, he suddenly heard someone on the
stairs. He shouted that they should go back to their bedroom and stay there.
A few minutes later, hearing someone on the stairs again, he furiously called
out that they should go upstairs, or he would come and punish them. That
happened again, and then someone knocked on the front door. Mr Miller went to
the door. One of his neighbours was there. "Is my little son here,"
he asked Mr Miller, "Yes, I am here," someone answered from above,
"but Mr Miller will not let me go home."

and Mrs Miller lived in London. Mr Miller working in a bank there, Mrs Miller
always bought her meat from the same butcher near the bank. The meat in that
shop was always very good. Then the bank sent Mr Miller to Manchester. Them
having moved, Mrs Miller began to look for a new butcher. One being near her
house, she went to his shop. After choosing a nice piece of meat, she asked
for two kilos. Him cutting it, Mrs Miller told him, "You give me a lot
of bones in it." "No, I do not," the butcher replied. "I
won’t give it to you, you will pay for it."

Mr
Miller is the manager of a big bank. Last Thursday afternoon, Mr Smith came
to Mr Miller's office and they talked for a long time. Suddenly Mr Miller
looking at his watch said: "Oh! The bank closed a quarter of an hour
ago! They've locked all the doors, and there are three of them between us and
the street. But I have keys because sometimes I'm late here after all the
others having gone." Taking some keys out of his pocket he left his
office with his visitor. Then they saw Mrs Turner cleaning the bank after
half past five every night. "Go through the back door," she told
the manager. "It’s never locked up."

Tom
Miller lives in an apartment. Having fallen asleep at midnight last Friday he was woken up by a lot of noise. Someone was knocking on a door. He
went into his living room, but the noise did not come from his door. The
person having knocked for a long time, Mr Miller opened the door. A
man with a telegram was standing at the door of the next apartment. Mr
Miller going up to him knocked hard on the door, they made a lot of noise.
Finally Mr Miller's neighbour came to the door, it was a lady living alone.
The man gave her the telegram and said: "A telegram for Mr Norman
Smith."

Jim
is twelve years old. Last Saturday his uncle Norman visited him and his
parents. He came at eleven; and at half past twelve they had lunch. There was
soup as a starter, meat with vegetables and potatoes as a main course, and
apples for dessert. At the end of the lunch, Jim's mother told uncle Norman
that she knew he liked cheese, but unfortunately she did not have any. While
she was taking the dishes to the kitchen, Jim quietly leaving the dining room came back after a minute with a piece of cheese. He gave it to uncle
Norman and his uncle was happy. Putting the cheese in his mouth he asked: "You have very good eyes, Jim, where did you find this beautiful
piece of cheese?" The boy replied, "In the mousetrap, uncle
Norman."
