Being very satisfied and quite surprised, he called John to his desk and said to him, "You did all your homework right this time, John. What happened? Did your father help you?" Normally, John's father did help him with his homework, but the night before, he had not been able to because he had to stay in the office. So John replied, "No, he didn’t because he was busy last night, so I had to do it all myself."

A clerk working in a small office at a company found that there were so many files in his office that there was no room for any more. Additionally, each file was so full that no more papers could be added. He knew he needed to find room for several hundred papers every week, so something had to be done about it. He thought for a long time and then decided to send his superior a message explaining what had happened and to ask him for permission to go through the old files and take out and destroy all the letters which were no longer of any use. The next day he received an answer from his superior. It read as follows: "All right, you have permission to do as you suggest, but you must make copies of all letters and papers before destroying them."
