Lesson 350

2) Ice-cream

One summer afternoon Mrs Miller went to a big, local cinema. At the half-time interval of the long film one could buy ice-cream. In general, she rarely bought anything in the cinema, but this time feeling hot she said to herself she needed an ice-cream. Many spectators queued in front of the girl who was selling the ice-cream, so Mrs Miller waited for her turn. In front of her, there was a small boy who, when it was his turn, offered the girl ten cents. But the ice-cream cost twenty cents, so the girl said, "I'd like to ask for another ten cent coin." The little boy put the coin in his pocket, put his hand in another pocket, and pulled out another ten cents and handed that to the girl. Mrs Miller was so amused that she paid the other ten cents herself.
