presume = think / believe

presumption

Maybe he is buying the car.
I think he is buying the car.
He could / may / might / is likely to be buying the car.
Maybe he bought / has bought the car.
I think he bought / has bought the car.
He could / may / might / is likely to have bought the car.
Maybe the car has been sold.
I think the car has been sold.
The car could / may / might / is likely to have been sold.

Probably he is buying the car.
I’m sure he is buying the car.
He must be buying the car.
Probably he bought / has bought the car.
I’m sure he bought / has bought the car.
He must have bought the car.
Probably the car has been sold.
I’m sure the car has been sold.
The car must have been sold.



They shout at each other and say bad words.
= They quarrel / argue

She is in the kitchen because she is going to cook lunch.
She was in the kitchen because she was going to cook lunch.

I seldom see something like this.
= This looks strange to me.

I throw a stone into the window and break it.
= I smash the window.

Something flies over his head, he goes down with his head a bit. = He ducks.
