four times a day = four times every day

a visit = a visitor = to visit

various cars = some different cars

The doctor gives me tests. = He examines me.

problems = trouble = complaint (complain about)

collar of a shirt = neck of a shirt
sweater = jersey = T-shirt = shirt without collar
pullover = very warm shirt / blouse
the collar is tight = the collar is small

I lay the book on the table, then the book lies on the table (lie = is lying)
He sits down and then he sits.
He stands up and then he stands.
the truth = true
He lies. = He doesn’t tell the truth.

2) A little son

Having a little son named Billy, Mrs Miller loved him very much. However, him not being a strong child she was always afraid that he could get sick. Therefore, she took him to the doctor four times a year to have him examined. During one of these visits, the doctor giving Billy various tests asked the boy whether he had recently had any problems with his nose and ears. Billy having thought for a moment gave an affirmative answer. Mrs Miller was very scared. "Really?" asked the doctor, "And what kind of complaints did you have? My boy!" "I always have trouble with them when I take my jersey off because the collar is too tight."
