2) The old librarian

A young man hurried into his city library. He went to one of the old librarians and eagerly said to her, "do you remember that you persuaded me to borrow a book about Roman history a week ago?" "Yes, that's right," replied the librarian. "Do you remember the name of the book?" asked the young man. The librarian was very proud because she always tried to persuade young people to borrow books about Roman history, and she rarely found anyone willing to accept her suggestions. "Yes," she replied, "do you want to read it again? Did you find it so interesting?" "No, of course not," said the young man, "but when I was taking it home, I met a girl on the bus and wrote her phone number in the book. I want to call her. May I look at the book again?"
