A very young, new officer was standing at a train station. He was on his way to visit his mother in another city and wanted to phone her to let her know the arrival time of his train so that she could pick him up in her car at the station. He looked into all of his pockets and found that he had no telephone coins to make calls. Therefore, he went outside and looked for someone who could help him. Finally, an old soldier came by and the young officer stopped him and said, "Do you have ten cents of change?" "Wait a moment!" the old soldier replied, putting his hand in his pocket. "I'll see if I can help you." "Don't you know how to speak to an officer?" said the young man angrily. "Now let's start again! Do you have ten cents of change?" "No sir!" the old soldier replied quickly.
