3)
Copies
A
clerk working in a small office at a company found that there were so many
files in his office that there was no room for any more. Additionally, each
file was so full that no more papers could be added. He knew he needed to
find room for several hundred papers every week, so something had to be done
about it. He thought for a long time and then decided to send his superior a
message explaining what had happened and to ask him for permission to go
through the old files and take out and destroy all the letters which were no
longer of any use. The next day he received an answer from his superior. It
read as follows: "All right, you have permission to do as you suggest,
but you must make copies of all letters and papers before destroying
them."

2)
Ice-cream
One
summer afternoon Mrs Miller went to a big, local cinema. At the half-time
interval of the long film one could buy ice-cream. In general, she rarely
bought anything in the cinema, but this time feeling hot she said to herself
she needed an ice-cream. Many spectators queued in front of the girl who was
selling the ice-cream, so Mrs Miller waited for her turn. In front of her,
there was a small boy who, when it was his turn, offered the girl ten cents.
But the ice-cream cost twenty cents, so the girl said, "I'd like to ask
for another ten cent coin." The little boy put the coin in his pocket,
put his hand in another pocket, and pulled out another ten cents and handed
that to the girl. Mrs Miller was so amused that she paid the other ten cents
herself.

1)
Two Spaniards
Two
Spaniards had accused each other of cheating, and both were getting angrier
and angrier. Jose threatened to kill Miguel. But Miguel just laughed and
suggested to meet in the park at five o'clock the next morning to fight duel.
But Jose thought it best to go to a quiet place in the countryside where the
police could neither see nor hear them. Miguel agreed and the next morning
they went to the train station together. Once there, Jose bought a return
ticket, but Miguel just a one-way ticket. Jose noticing it said, "Hoho!
Don’t you expect to come back?" "I never buy a return ticket,"
Miguel replied calmly, "I always use my opponent's other half."
